School Holiday Fun in Latrobe City

With everyone itching to get out and about these school holidays, we’ve collated some of the best fun, adventurous and creative activities to get the kids outdoors and beat the boredom, even if the weather turns bad!

Re-opened – just in time for the school holidays!

Wyncity Morwell – Strike it lucky, tenpin bowling is back!  With social distancing and reduced capacity, please book to ensure you don’t miss out. At this stage the bumper cars, mini golf and arcade games are unavailable. Book now by phoning (03) 5134 6450.

Inflatable World Gippsland – Experience Inflatable World these school holidays like never before, with limited tickets per session. Up to three sessions per day, with COVID-19 trained staff and full sanitising between sessions. Sessions running daily from Saturday 27 June to Saturday 11 July. Session times 10am-11.30am, 12pm – 1.30pm and 2pm – 3.30pm* (Wed to Sun only). Bookings essential.

Jump & Climb – Jump into the school holidays with excitement! Jump & Climb is excited to re-open trampoline sessions in time for the school holidays. Capacity restrictions and cleaning procedure between sessions are in place. Please note that Climb sessions are not available at this time. Jump sessions will run daily at 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm. Bookings are essential.

Latrobe Regional Gallery – Want to go on an Art Trail with LRG? You can take a closer look at the art from our exhibitions and collections, get curious about art, and enjoy creating your own! Pick up your FREE Art Cart At Home show bag, it’s full of fun activities inspired by current exhibitions and artworks from the collection – the perfect way to keep creative during a cold day at home! Open daily 11am to 4pm.

Big Swing Golf – Big Swing Golf is the ultimate indoor golf experience. And great fun for kids with simulated sports games available too! Play basketball, soccer, baseball, dodgeball, American football, archery, fun family arcade games and MANY more! And you can play rain, hail or shine! Limited to 3 persons per simulator and maximum 2 hour sessions. COVID-19 procedures apply. Bookings essential.

LV Golf Driving Range – Open daily from 9am to 5pm. Hire a club and a bucket of balls starting from $8.50. Have some fun with the kids and make a few challenges or ways to earn points, highest score wins!

Village Cinemas Mid Valley Morwell – Movies are back at the big screen! You will even find some old classics like The Titanic in the now showing list! Limited seats available per session.

Parky’s Fun Park – All of the play facilities at Parky’s are back in action including the Wonderland indoor play centre, 18-hole mini golf ‘Parky’s Putt Putt’, Parky’s Adventure Rope Course and Parky’s Laser Tag. The best in playground adventures

Make the most of those chilly sunny days and get outdoors. The kids will love getting adventurous and imaginative at Latrobe City’s playgrounds.

An enchanting new nature play space at Apex Park in Moe is so much fun for kids and creative minds! They can get dirty, climb, create and splash among a world of native Australian fauna, totem poles, water pump and a super cool tree house carved into an old tree stump. Admire the animal carvings and play features carved using chainsaws by a local wood sculptor.

The Morwell Town Common resembles a wooden castle that will entertain for hours and inspire imaginative play, whether it be dungeons and dragons or a magical princess fairy tale.

Newman Park in Traralgon is a large, all abilities playgrounds with multiple zones, swings and slides, a flying fox and a liberty swing. Apex Park in Glengarry is a great for those walking or riding along the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail and features farm-themed play equipment and a half basketball court.

Grab some take away from a local café currently offering takeaway or utilise the BBQs and cook your own lunch.

You don’t need to travel far to experience picturesque countryside and stunning natural landscapes that are so green and bright your heart will do a happy dance. Find yourself amongst lush fern gullies and towering eucalypts or become acquainted with some of the loveable native animals, all just a stones throw from the centre of town.

Find a new adventure, or re-discover an old one. Either way, we are surrounded by so much natural beauty its always enjoyable. And great for wearing out some energetic children!

Morwell River Falls Reserve – Enjoy the scenic drive to Morwell River Falls, a hidden gem in the Latrobe Valley, with rolling hills and camping spots along the way. Walk amongst dry eucalypt forest, fungi and large tree ferns and a series of three waterfalls on route to the riverbed. It truly is a magical spot not to be missed.

Morwell National Park – The kids will love spotting the wildlife with echidnas, kangaroos, possums, wallabies and wombats often spotted disappearing into the bush. Be sure to listen out for the powerful song of the male lyrebird and koalas are commonly napping in the trees so don’t forget to look up high!

Incorporate some educationThe Waterhole Creek Cultural Heritage Trail celebrates Gippsland’s rich indigenous history, while Kernot Lake is home to the Gippsland Immigration Park and Gippsland Heritage Walk which takes you on a journey of the settlement and life of migrants to Gippsland. Is someone in your family named on the wall?

Try your luck at Lake Hyland, a family fishing lake which was stocked with 800 trout for fishing during the holidays on 24 June 2020. It has accessible platforms, playground and BBQs or enjoy a scenic walk around the lake.

Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk at the Traralgon Railway Conservation Reserve and admire the birds and native plants. The ducks are very friendly and the kids will love exploring Kick Horse Canyon. The Edward Hunter Bush Reserve in Moe is a lush, green, bushland setting that is so tranquil you feel miles away from anywhere! Enjoy a picnic lunch overlooking the lake.
