Welcome home.

On Opening Night of the Gippsland Performing Arts Centre our community gathers with stories from the Valley to breathe life into our new creative heart.

Our home, here in the Latrobe Valley, is a collection of towns small and large, filled with natural beauty and industrial grit. Whether we’ve been here since the dawn of time or have come from somewhere afar, there’s one thing we all have in common: we stick things out through thick and thin Together.

Led by Artistic Director and Boolarra local, Dr Margie Mackay (Woodford Folk Festival, Dreamtime at the G), supported by Choral Director, Jonathon Welch AM (Choir of Hard Knocks), Musical Director, Richard Chew (Federation University) and local Choreographer, Gilbert Douglas (Tumbuka Dance Company, Yirramboi Festival, Woodford Folk Festival) this specially commissioned celebration of ceremony, mass choir and performance will mark the official opening of Gippsland Performing Arts Centre.

Weaving through our outdoor spaces, the trees of the foyer and into our incredible new theatre, this special event features members of our very own community.

You’re all invited.
